UCSF Bioengineering and Tissue Research Center

The Center for Bioengineering and Tissue Research houses a cross-disciplinary laboratory that examines the engineering, growth, and transplant of new tissues. The laboratory also includes within it an atomic force microscope, a tissue culture room, and state-of-the-art microsurgery. Because of the rapidly evolving nature of this field of research, the laboratory is designed to be exceptionally flexible and adaptable to future changes. The design embraces and allows for future IT Technology and Flexible Space Planning concepts and remedies to limit conventional lab design and reconfigurations that incorporate fixed benches and to reduce the time-consuming and expense of traditional renovations. The approach accommodates flexibility with minimal disruptions to research and operations while fostering the pace of innovation.

This project was designed to meet LEED Silver equivalency.
